We are a heritage restaurant with a cuisine that dates back four centuries. Our food is a marriage of two cultures, of well-to-do Chinese traders or merchants who settled around the coastal regions of Penang, Malacca and Singapore, and who were married to the local women. Their descendants, known as the Peranakans meaning "local born" were brought up to appreciate the fine things in life. The males were inducted into the family business and the females were taught homecrafts especially in cooking. Food has always played an important role in the households of rich the Peranakan families. The patriarch would entertain his business associates lavishly. In those days, it was common to bring honoured guests home and be pampered with good food cooked by the ladies of house, presided by the matriarch, often an awesome woman of many talents. At PeraMakan, we relive the bygone days through our food, cooked with love and passion. We cook for you as if we cook for the family and our food does not contain MSG or preservatives. What you get is clean, healthy, wholesome food cooked the way, a Peranakan matriarch would cook for her loved ones. Visit PeraMakan and enjoy Peranakan hospitality and warmth.

Definitely not. Even members cannot fish there unless it is some special occasion. I have only seen it happen once in the last 10 years
